Welcome to THE GOUDA BLOG!
I am Kamini but the people who love me the most call me Minnie. I have a love for everything food, from blending flavors and mastering techniques to plating and photographing every dish I make. I knew from a young age that I wanted food to be a big part of my life outside of just eating it daily. Today, I find absolute joy in creating, testing, and sharing recipes with you all. I am truly excited to have this space to catalog every recipe that I work so hard to create.
I was born and raised in Georgetown, Guyana. For those who don’t know where that is, it is nestled up against Brazil and Venezuela in the northeast corner of South America. While it is geographically a South American country, we are culturally Caribbean/West Indian. The food culture is influenced by the many people that came to settle in Guyana over time. Indian food is prevalent but there is also a large mix of Indigenous, European, African, and Chinese dishes that make up the wide variety of things we eat.
I have been living in Texas for the past 11 years with my wonderful husband. I am a new mom to a beautiful baby boy. When I am not cooking, I am thinking of things I can cook… kidding but not really. When I am not cooking, I am actually soaking up my family and trying to never miss any of the little things. Moving here has been such a great part of my food journey. The south is one of the best places to experience amazing flavors like TexMex, Cajun, BBQ, southern comfort food, and pies of every variety.
I am on a mission to showcase some of the amazing dishes I grew up with but to remind you that we are not limited by what we know and that exploring food is an adventure worth experiencing.
